Sponsored job move to Japan

A 90-day move timeline before you spend serious money.

Use this guide to organize employer documents, personal records, budget gates, housing decisions, and first-month setup before flights, deposits, shipping, or non-refundable commitments.

What should be clear first

Pathway

Likely status of residence, employer role, job description, contract timing, and official-source confirmation.

Documents

What comes from you, what comes from the employer, who owns each request, and which items need translation or review.

Budget gates

What must be checked before paying for flights, housing deposits, shipping, temporary stay, or first-month setup.

JapanStay is planning support only. It is not legal, immigration, tax, financial, employment, or housing advice, and it does not guarantee any visa or relocation outcome.

Practical timeline

Break the move into four work blocks.

Days 90–61: confirm the sponsored path

Identify the likely immigration path, employer responsibility, document owner, contract timing, and official source links you will rely on. Separate facts from assumptions before you start spending.

Days 60–31: plan housing and money

Estimate take-home pay, rent ceiling, move-in costs, temporary stay, flight timing, phone, banking, insurance, and emergency reserve. Keep unresolved questions visible.

Days 30–8: prepare arrival setup

Line up city-office tasks, insurance, pension, tax, bank, phone, utilities, commute, workplace start, and documents you may need after arrival.

Final week and arrival: execute only what is confirmed

Switch from planning to execution: keys, address, emergency cash, SIM, first commute, municipal registration, and the first employer check-in.

Next step

Start free, upgrade only when the move is real.

The free CSV checklist is enough for early research. The paid planner is for serious sponsored-job moves where documents, dates, and spending decisions need one controlled place.
